Hi there,
This blog has been set up by The Heart Foundation – Wellington Branch. The Heart Foundation runs the Cessation Practitioner Training Programme, for Health Professionals. “In addition to being able to more effectively support a smoker through the process of quitting, the completion of Stages 1 to 3 of the Cessation Practitioner Training programme fulfills the training criteria required for a health professional who wishes to apply to become an exchange card provider for the subsidised Nicotine Patches and Gum Programme.” (Source: www.nhf.org.nz)
At the Training Courses in Wellington, people expressed an interest for a blog to be set up, where they could post questions and discussed scenarios they face in doing their smoking cessation work.
Consequently, I set up this blog for Smoking Cessation Practitioners. Please place questions under the “Questions and comments” tab. Similarily any tips you have should be posted under the “Tips and Experiences” tab. By doing this, everyone will be able to access the information they require easily.
This is a public site and practitioners using the blog, should be aware of this when posting questions or comments.
There are links to websites (on the right hand side of each page), to help you with your work and other resources will be added.
Thanks very much.
Shikha
